Rachmaninoff- Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini “Variation XVIII” [Piano Solo] (2021)

The Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini, is a concert work, composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. It was written for piano and orchestra, in a style like that of a piano concerto. The score includes an annotation that says it was written in the Villa Senar, between July 3 and August 18, 1934. The piece is a set of 24 variations on the last of the 24 variations for solo violin by Niccolò Paganini. The most outstanding part of the work has been the variation that I interpret here, which has been used in the soundtrack of several films, among others: The Story of Three Loves (1953), Somewhere in Time (1980), Dead Again (1991), Sabrina (1995).

La Rapsodia sobre un tema de Paganini, es una obra concertante, compuesta por Sergei Rachmaninoff. Fue escrita para piano y orquesta, en un estilo similar al de un concierto para piano. La partitura incluye una anotación que dice que se escribió en la Villa Senar, entre el 3 de julio y el 18 de agosto de 1934. La pieza es un conjunto de 24 variaciones sobre el último de los 24 caprichos para violín solo de Niccolò Paganini. La parte más destacada de la obra ha sido la variación que aquí interpreto, la cual ha sido usada en la banda sonora de varias películas, entre otras: The Story of Three Loves (1953), Pide al Tiempo que Vuelva (1980), Dead Again (1991), Sabrina (1995).
