The Taliban has taken control over Afghanistan, but it could be long before the militant group gets access to a majority of the country’s monetary reserves and assets. Afghan’s central bank, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB), had approximately $9.5-$10 billion in assets as of last week. However, most of these assets are not physically present in Afghanistan, confirmed acting DAB Governor Ajmal Ahmady who has already fled Kabul.
