Nepal Safer Schools Learning Week: Accessible Design for School Infrastructure

As part of a commitment to safe school spaces which “Leave No One Behind”, the NSSP worked to incorporate accessibility features into the design of physical infrastructure elements of the Project. This included adding access ramps as school buildings were being retrofitted, and Child, Gender, and Disability-Friendly features into the design of toilets and handwashing stations. Based on a review of work done under the program, this technical session will focus on a review of principles of accessible design for WaSH facilities and classrooms, and highlight some of the experiences and learning from the project about improving physical accessibility through design.
