Elon Musk's REACTION to Blue Origin First Space Flight IS REMARKABLE
Following the flight, Blue Origin tweeted a video of its landing in the West Texas desert. In the comments, Musk said, “Congrats was cool to send @WilliamShatner to space.” Musk had also tweeted regarding the flight before it happened, commenting “Godspeed Captain” on a NASA tweet wishing Shatner luck for the trip.

Huge thanks to all these amazing SpaceX Artists. Please follow them and support them through Payoneer and Twitter.

The rare show of solidarity came hours after Prince William offered an unexpected rebuke of the pair's race to leave Earth during a BBC Newscast interview.

Many questions come to one’s mind. Why exactly sending William Shatner to space by Blue Origin? What is the kind of vision of space travel that Star Trek represents? Moreover, did the rivalry between the two billionaires come to an end, especially after Musk surprisingly congratulated Jeff Bezos for his second successful flight? Let’s find out.

At 90 years old, Shatner officially became the oldest person to travel to space as he took off in the New Shepard rocket ship, the record was previously held by aerospace pioneer Wally Funk, who at 82 flew on Blue Origin’s first crewed launch in July.

Called NS-18, the rocket launched from Blue Origin’s private facility in West Texas, reaching above 100 kilometers (or more than 340,000 feet altitude) before returning to Earth safely a few minutes later. From start to finish, the launch lasted about 11 minutes. The crew experienced about three minutes of weightlessness.

Upon exiting the capsule hatch at landing, Shatner was moved to tears by the overwhelming emotion and sense of profoundness he experienced when reaching space.

“What you have done, everybody in the world needs to do this,” he told Bezos. “Everybody in the world needs to see [this].”

Shatner continued: “What you have given me is the most profound experience … I hope I never recover from this … I’m so filled with emotion about what just happened. It's extraordinary, extraordinary. I hope I can maintain what I feel now. I don’t want to lose it. It’s so much larger than me and life … I am overwhelmed. I had no idea … it would be so important for everyone to have that experience.”

So, what does William Shatner′s spacecraft mean for the future of Blue Origin and space? Can it distract from internal criticism?

Alexandra Abrams and 20 other current and former Blue Origin employees described an alleged toxic corporate culture at Blue Origin rife with sexism, sexual harassment, and favoritism. However, one item that may concern Shatner and the other three people who ride the New Shepard into space, is whether the New Shepard is as safe as it could be.

The notion that Blue Origin’s corporate culture is toxic would tend to explain why the company is experiencing such a high turnover.

The turnover and the corporate culture have impacted Blue Origin’s various programs, including the New Shepard suborbital rocket, the New Glenn orbital rocket, the Blue Moon lunar lander, and the BE-4 rocket engine. Only the New Shepard has become operational, with the first crewed flight taking place last July, which included Bezos as a passenger. Every other project being conducted by Blue Origin is suffering delays and other problems.

What should Jeff Bezos do? He could start by being a more hands-on manager of his space company. He should at least consider firing his management team and replacing it with people who are dedicated to creating a functional corporate culture that rewards success and innovation and has no tolerance for misbehavior. A new management team should implement the suggestions of the 2018 study as appropriate.
