I think in large part it's social media breeding doubt, and killing real self-expression. Selling your life out in small pieces for a tiny kickback of meaningless pleasure-- notifications, electronic numbers, and electronic words-- only to pay full price, in the long term, living with DEEP-SEATED doubt and insecurity, forever wondering and wishing to control and only reap pleasure from what people thought of your post. :(
