Hi!
Today I make a beautiful blanket in a very easy and economical way. This blanket is created from hexagonal puzzle pieces. Even a sewing beginners or quilting beginners can make this blanket.
You can use leftover fabric from previous sewing projects or repurpose fabric from old clothes to make this blanket.
In this video, I make a blanket that is about 110cm x 130cm (44" x 52"). You can create a bigger blanket with more puzzle pieces.
I will create a hexagon pattern first. This is not a regular hexagon. The size of this hexagon is 22cm x 22cm (8.8" x 8.8"). Then I would put the pattern on the fabric and add about 1.5cm (0.6") of seam. My quilt needs 31 hexagonal pieces, 10 vertical half hexagon pieces and 8 horizontal half hexagonal pieces.
The main fabric that I use is cotton fabric. You can also use fabric from old clothes, taking care to choose pieces of the same material and not stretch.
Next, I cut the batting and fabric for the back. You can absolutely use leftovers from previous sewing projects because only small pieces are needed. The fabric for the back you can use the same material as the main fabric or a softer fabric for the blanket, or a thicker fabric for the carpet.
Sew around and create hexagonal pieces. My favorite part is arranging the pieces. You can refer to the hexagonal quilt patterns or arrange them yourself to your liking. Your blanket is unique and you will love it so much.
You can make this sewing project to give as a gift or to sell which is also a great idea. Look how my son loved this blanket. It's lovely and I feel so happy. Please tell me how you feel!
