Hydrogen vehicles - not quite perfect

I like hydrogen as a fuel, but it's not as simple as some people think.
Running hydrogen through piston engines has very low efficiency, but there is a place for this. Fuel cell electric vehicles make much better use of hydrogen but the overall process is not that efficient. Also, quite a lot of hydrogen is manufactured with fossil fuels, which kind of defeats the purpose.
