Elders from Kirinyaga County have performed a traditional ritual to allow for the uprooting of the sacred Mugumo tree which stands on the 84km Kenol-Marua dual carriageway project ,currently under construction. According to the acting Kirinyaga County Council of Elders chairman Harrison Ndambiri, the tree is regarded as sacred and no one is allowed to cut it down without the ritual being done.
