‘It’s sad’ people are ‘cheering on the removal of freedoms’ amid the pandemic

Outgoing LNP MP George Christensen says people are “cheering on the removal of freedoms” amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Cheering on the removal of freedoms that men and women have died for,” he told Sky News host Chris Smith.

“I think that that is just so, so sad.”

Mr Christensen said he can “understand to a degree” why politicians are “marching” down the road of harsh restrictions.

“They’re getting cheered on by the public for it, they’re getting rewarded,” he said.

“It’s really almost incredible to see that, but there needs to be some form of pushback, of almost education.

“Another side needs to be told here.”
