While the police earlier warned against public gatherings and at the risk of spreading Covid-19, the #Lawan rally appears to be taking shape on the streets of Kuala Lumpur today, after weeks of virtual planning on social media platforms.
Prior to today's #Lawan, Malaysians on social media platforms have been voicing out their frustrations against the government via several hashtags including #KeluarDanLawan, #Lawan itself and #KerajaanGagal that have been trending in the country for months.
It is learned that the police have been guarding Dataran Merdeka since 9.30am following a previous small rally that took place at the square two weeks ago.
At 10.55am, attendees were heard chanting #HidupRakyat while several people on the front lines hold up black flags, as evident in videos posted on Telegram.
