Aardvark

This animal is so unique that for the longest time, we didn’t even know how to categorize it. The animal it looks like the most is an anteater, so we simply assumed that it must be related to an anteater in one way or another, but that ended up being false. The Aardvark is actually a (very) distant relative of the elephant who separated from the same family tree about 80 million years ago and is now considered the only animal in their own specially created category called the Tubulidentata. They’re generally found across sub-Saharan Africa.

Emperor Tamarin

Tamarins are monkeys that are about the size of a squirrel, and they’re extremely cute. The most popular species of Tamarin is the Emperor tamarin, which is a tamarin with a long white mustache that many people who discovered it compared its looks to that of the early 20th-century German emperor, Wilhelm II, and when you look at the two side by side, you can kind of see it. They generally inhabit the southwest part of the Amazon rainforest and are known to be quite friendly around humans and very playful. They have an abundant population with pretty much no immediate threat to their natural habitat either.
