Desperate for international recognition, Taliban plan to adopt 1964 Afghan monarch's constitution

As the world watches Afghanistan, Taliban have announced to adopt the 1964 constitution drafted by an Afghan monarch. The constitution was drafted by King Zahir Shah whose reign is described as the golden age in Afghanistan. King Zahir Shah's constitution is the most ambitious of the four constitutions that the country has had in recent times. However, Taliban announced to strike down any provision or clause in the constitution that contradicts Islamic Shariah. The constitution of King Zahir Shah was in force between 1964 and 1973 in 1973, King Zahir Shah was deposed and the constitution annulled by a coup. After the US invasion of Afghanistan, a new constitution was drafted which the Taliban have rejected. Taliban have said that it will come up with a new constitution by 2022 in Afghanistan. Currently, Taliban call their state an 'islamic emirate' and rule Afghanistan as per shariah laws.
